Ministry Of Investment, Trade and Industry Malaysia (MITI)
It is indeed my pleasure to welcome you to the 4th edition of SMART NATION 2024 and EVM ASIA 2024, the International Electrified Vehicle and Mobility Technology Exhibition, scheduled for 19-21 November 2024 at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur.
The adoption of EV is gaining momentum worldwide and Southeast Asia, represents both a major production hub and a significant market for electrified vehicles and components. The EV market has been projected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 24.3% to reach approximately USD1.3 trillion by 2028.
Themed “Powering the Future of Sustainable Mobility”, the holistic focus by SMART NATION 2024 and EVM ASIA 2024 on the EV ecosystem – including production, charging infrastructure, mobility technology, manufacturing systems and components supports the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry’s (MITI) comprehensive approach to EV development.
Furthermore, in alignment with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), the National Automotive Policy and National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), these exhibitions also help fulfil the nation’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, as well as our vision to elevate Malaysia’s overall industrial competitiveness at the regional and global level. Malaysia has also launched the Green Investment Strategy, to attract the right investments to support our net zero ambition, as stipulated by NETR and NIMP, and to make Malaysia the prime green investment destination by 2030.
Our policies and initiatives to attract the right investments to support the development of our EV ecosystem, will provide opportunities for our SMEs and jobs for our people, while proactively positioning Malaysia as a regional production and distribution hub for EV in Southeast Asia.
In line with our policy to also build domestic capacity in EVs, the government is optimistic that our home-grown automakers will be able to produce the first national electric vehicle (EV) by 2025, through strategic collaboration, targeted investments and joint R&D with key partners. MITI is also confident of providing the infrastructure to support the growth of Malaysia’s EV market, such as the target of providing 10,000 EV charging facilities nationwide by 2025.
MITI warmly welcomes Informa Markets Malaysia’s initiative to organise SMART NATION 2024 and EVM ASIA 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, which provides a valuable platform for stakeholders to network, build partnerships and source for new technology and innovations.

Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Malaysia
The world today faces unprecedented challenges in balancing development with climate goals. Both are equally crucial for the survival of societies. Bearing this in mind, Malaysia has been steadfast in its commitment to the global aspirations of sustainable development and a climate resilient future. Towards achieving the nation’s goals in this regard, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability is focusing on the green transition. Our strategic direction is set on enhancing green growth, as well as realising low carbon development and supporting the energy transition, among other things.
The Ministry encourages industries to embrace continuous innovation in sustainable practices. It simply makes sense to do so because it not only allows businesses to meet the demands of increasingly ESG-conscious consumers but also because mastering them will make for more efficient production and reduce overheads.
NRES has been tasked with managing the country’s natural resources in a sustainable and responsible manner, protecting and managing the environment, driving climate action and catalysing green growth.
In light of this, my Ministry warmly supports the initiatives undertaken by Informa Markets Malaysia in organising the SMART NATION EXPO 2024 from 19-21 November 2024 at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur.
